Requirements from cradle to grave!

The IMO has adopted the “Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships” in 2009 and has been enforced by EU-Regulation 1257/2013 on December 30th, 2013. Affected are all ships of and above 500GT and reach from manufacturers and suppliers via shipyards and shipowners down to ship recyclers.

Key requirements :

  • Preparation of and documentation of Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) for all existing ships and platforms flagged in the EU or visiting an EU-port till December 30th, 2020 (new ships since Dec. 30th, 2015)
  • Authorization of Ship Recycling Facilities
